DISCLAIMER: This is a moderately challenging hike with 450+ foot elevation gain and a substantial amount of rock scrambling along the creek. So, if you have mobility issues, are recovering from injury, or prefer a slower pace, please sit this one out!

That said, it's finally time to break in those new hiking boots ... you know, the ones you got for Christmas? So, lace 'em up and join us on this 4.8 mile fun and scenic hike, so close to town. We'll explore the variety that is Sweetwater Creek State Park via the White trail which passes through a remote area of the park, past Jack's Lake, the Sweetwater creek rapids, to the Civil War period Manchester Mill ruins. From here, we take a short detour via the Red trail, back to the parking lot.

Notes:
  • Please, no unregistered guests or +Ones!

  • Late cancellations, particularly within 36 hours of the event, make it difficult for those on the waitlist to attend. Please be courteous to your fellow AOC members and cancel with as much notice as possible.

  • If you need to get in touch with me, the best way is to TEXT me with your NAME and query/comment. FYI, thanks to those annoying robocalls, calling me will send you to my voicemail, but feel free to leave a message.

  • I usually hike RAIN-or-SHINE! However, in case of severe weather or other unforeseen emergencies that warrant a cancellation, I will text/email you at least TWO HOURS before the start of the event.

* We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.

There is no cost for this event, however, Sweetwater Creek State Park charges a $5 entry fee per vehicle, payable at the Park. The good news: If you have the annual Georgia State Parks parking pass, you're in for free!
