Itinerary:

This a great hike that has great views and changes in scenery including a walk alongside the famous Chattooga River. The Chattooga river is a 57 mile long river that has its headwaters near Cashiers in North Carolina before it finishes in Lake Tugaloo combing with the Tallulah river creating the Tugalo river.

The river was used as a setting for the fictional Cahulawassee River in the book and film Deliverance.!!

We will leave the Burrell’s ford camping area and head up the foothills trail into the Ellicott Rock Wilderness area continuing along the foothills trail until we reach the Walhalla Fish Hatchery road, walking down this road we will stop at the fish hatchery for lunch. There will be a chance to feed the fish if you want (feed is available from paid dispensers).

After lunch, we will continue down the East Fork Trail of the Chattooga river until we reach the Chattooga River trail.

We will make a left and continue along along the CRT until we will take the trail up to Spoon Auger Falls, after visiting the falls we will back track to the loop trail and then begin our climb back up to the foot hills trail following this until we reach our cars.

This is a great hike for those who want to move up from a D3 level to a D4 level.
