Itinerary:

DISCLAIMER: This is a brisk, moderately strenuous hike with approx. 1600 foot elevation gain and a substantial amount of rock scrambling. So, if you have mobility issues, are recovering from injury, or prefer a slower pace, please sit this one out!

Ask yourself this: Why summit the mountain only once, when we can do it twice, and look great doing it?

So, start your weekend off right on this heart-pumping, 7.7 mile double-summit of the Rock, with a modified Cherokee Trail thrown in for good measure. We'll begin at the Whistle Stop parking Lot, summit the mountain at our own pace, enjoy the sunrise, regroup and pick up the Cherokee Trail via the Southeast face, then around the lake and back up the way we came for another view of the summit before descending to the parking lot.

  3. I usually hike RAIN-or-SHINE, however, in case of severe weather or other unforeseen emergencies that warrant a cancellation, I will text/email you at least TWO HOURS before the start of the event.

* We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.

Cost Includes:

There is no cost for this event, however, entry to Stone Mountain Park is $20 per vehicle, or $40 for an annual pass. If you want to avoid the fee, you can park for free on Main Street in Stone Mountain Village and walk (or ride your bike) into the park for free.
