Itinerary:

Welcome to a new Silent Hike edition!

Green Meadows Preserve, located in West Cobb, is both a community garden and an Eastern Bluebird nesting area dedicated to regrowing the at-risk Blue Bird population. Currently it has 31  nest boxes and 10 feed stations within the 112 acres of open pasture, meadows and trees. It has also 2.3 miles of trails (thank you Joyce for the initial info!)

We'll pass the community garden and the Cherokee medicine and plant garden, a civil war period house, and at the end of the hike we'll find the majestic big Oak tree (sawtooth oak).

The physical address is 3780 Dallas Highway. We'll meet at the parking lot next to the restrooms.

This will be a partial silent hike to better enjoy nature and experience some quietness. The silent part of the hike will be the first hour.

"The hours when the mind is absorbed by beauty are the only hours when we really live" - Richard Jefferies, from the Trail of Beauty

Silent hikes provide with the opportunity to better immerse in nature, allow the other hikers to immerse themselves in nature as well, and "quiet" our internal chatter. They are also less disruptive for wild life around us. We improve our listening, eye-foot coordination, and situational awareness. You can focus on your breathing or on your steps. This will quiet your mind at the same time.
