Itinerary:

Hyde Farm and Power Family Cemetery

We will start our hike at the Hyde Farm trailhead off Hyde road.  We will see the home of the Power Family who among other things, operated Powers Ferry across the Cataloochee River during the 1800's.  During our hike we will also learn about the large East Cobb farm that was operated first by the Power family and then later by the Hyde family.

For this hike, we will first visit the family cemetery of the Power Family which is approximately 1/2 miles from our trailhead.  The cemetery includes the grave of the oldest of the Powers, Joseph Power who was born in 1780 and died in 1875.

Then we will continue our hike in the Hyde Farm and Johnson Ferry North CRNRA property and will include numerous creek crossing of Mulberry Creek, some time hiking along the Chatahoochee River and some time exploring the actual Power/ Hyde Farm which is approximately 150 yards from our trailhead.

Our entire hike will cover approximately 5.5 miles in 2.5 hours.  The terrain we will cover is varied and includes several hills.  The creek crossing of Mulberry creek are not deep and can generally be rock hopped but hiking poles are definitely helpful if you have them.
