Itinerary:

Please arrive 10 minutes early and gather in front of the bathroom facility. We will meet everyone and begin the hike promptly at 10 am.

We will access the Indian Seats Loop trailhead and head up clockwise. About a mile up the serene woodland, we will lean left to visit the cute little fairies dotted along the Fairy Trails, then continue on a steeper ascent to the peak. We will take a few minutes at the Indian Seats observation deck, to enjoy a snack and the stunning panoramic vista of the north Georgia mountains. Instead of completing the loop, we will return where we came.

Difficulty

This is not a fitness hike. We will maintain a moderate pace between 2.5 - 3.0 mph, faster on descent, and slower on ascent. There will be breaks for water as needed. Total distance 6 miles. Elevation gain 725ft.

Parking

parking is free.

Please note that we will be meeting at the Sawnee Preserve Mountain - Indian Seats parking lot. Do not confuse this with the Sawnee Mountainside Trail parking lot, which is located on the opposite side of Bettis Tribble Gap Road. If you see a large children’s playground, you are in the wrong parking area. I recommend using the GPS coordinates for precise directions.
