Itinerary:

It's been too long since I challenged myself with the Arkaquah Trail to Brasstown Bald. Join me as we tackle one of the steepest hikes in Georgia!

Parking at the trailhead is tight, so we will be using the smallest number of cars as possible. If you list yourself as "meet at trailhead", expect an email from the TL asking who else will be in your car.

This hike starts with a BANG as we climb 1600 feet in about 1.6 miles. Switchbacks and steep inclines will get our heart beating. After the initial climb we will be rewarded with ridgeline views and moderate hills as we make our way to the highest point in GA. We will lunch at the top, either at the visitor center or an adjacent opening depending on the wind. After lunch we will retrace our steps with a quick detour to the not so secret, bonus, overlook.

This is a very difficult D5 event with an elevation gain close to 4000 feet. Only experienced hikers will be allowed to join.

We will be joined by Buck the hiking dog, if extra doggy attention isn't to your liking, this might not be the right event for you.
