Island Ford including the Lollipop

The hike will cover 6 miles and about 700 feet of total elevation gain.  We'll be hiking at a moderate pass, targeting 2.5 mph overall.  This is not a beginner hike.

We'll meet in the lower parking lot at the Visitor Center.  To get there you will go all the way to then end of Island Ford Parkway.  Note: if you put the address in Maps it will stop about half down Island Ford Parkway.  Keep going until you reach the Visitor Center.     

The hike will start at 10:00  (sorry, we cannot wait for latecomers).  We'll take the high route out to the picnic table at the first parking lot.  From there we'll do the lollipop.  On the way back, to the visitor center, we'll hike along the river.  If the group is up to it, we'll finish with the BA hill to give us a little more distance and elevation gain.  We will regroup at intersections.

Bathrooms and parking passes are available at the Island Ford Visitor Center.  Arrive early to allow time for restrooms or if you need a parking pass.  

There is a $5.00 daily parking fee unless you have an annual pass.  If you need to purchase a day parking pass you can do so at the kiosk at the visitor center parking lot.  Annual passes can be purchased from 9:00 to 5:00 at the Visitor Center for $40.

From northbound US 19 and GA 400
- Take exit #6 (Northridge Road).
- Coming off the exit, stay in the right lane, cross over GA 400, and turn right onto Dunwoody Place.
- Go 0.5 miles to Roberts Drive.
- Turn right and proceed 0.7 miles to the park entrance on your right.

From southbound US 19 and GA 400
- Take exit #6 (Northridge Road)
- Continue straight ahead at the traffic light onto Dunwoody Place.
- Go 0.5 miles to Roberts Drive.
- Turn right and proceed 0.7 miles to the park entrance on your right.
