Date change - due to weather.

 

This is the famous triple crown hike.  It will go atop three mountains exceeding 4000' in gain.  A long descent to the cars.  First up is Coosa from Vogel State Park along the Coosa Backcountry Trail, next up is Slaughter, then a side trip up Blood Mountain, then a return on the Coosa Backcountry Trail.

A pass is needed to park at Vogel Start Park.  A $5 daily pass can be purchased at the park or online at https://gastateparks.org/ThingsToKnow, or you can use your annual State ParkPass.

Qualifications:  Previous D6 (in the last 4 months) or strong D5 (in the last 4 months).  If you are on the waitlist for this event it means you did not qualify or the event is full.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $50.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
