Itinerary:

Come join me for visits to Albert Mt. and Pickens Nose.  Albert is one of the steepest climbs on the Nantahala section of the AT.  Pickens is a popular photo op for striking your favorite pose.  The views are none too shabby for either and you get different views form opposite directions (West for Albert/East for Pickens).  Albert is on the AT and I like it!  The Albert climb is not too long.  Pickens is known for striking hiker poses.  You might see the Z, the Happy Baby, or just seated on the Nose if you like. Be patient because these D5s tend to attract hikers that like to pose.  Also beware.  These hikers tend to hike fast.  My last recording for this route had us climb 2756 feet of elevation over 13.2 miles at a pace of 2.4 miles on average including 30 minutes of breaks.  Total moving time was 6 hours and burning 3400 calories makes the case of a D5.  But how does it make you feel?  We will take the Bearpen trail up to ridgeline and this trail is not well-kept with loose rock and debris but is shorter than other options.  You will be rewarded at ridgelline with the well-groomed AT to connect you with the Albert summit and Pickens Nose.  Did I mention I like the AT?
