This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Head out on this 5.9-mile out-and-back trail near Cherokee, North Carolina. Generally considered a moderately challenging route. This is a popular trail for hiking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail. Mingus Creek Trail is primarily known for its abundance of rhododendrons and Virginia bluebells. As you progress, the trail begins to narrow and becomes increasingly rocky. Several footbridges are scattered along the trail. These crossings can become slick, especially after rain, requiring cautious steps. The trail rewards hikers with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Near the trailhead is Mingus Mill, which was built in 1886.
