Itinerary: | |||||||
We will meet at Arabia Mountain Nature Center for a photo oriented hike on Arabia Mountain. Like Stone Mountain, Arabia Mountain is a granite monadnock nearly 400 million years old. The area has unique plant life, wild life, spectacular geological formations, and interesting signs of human history. For more check out this link: www.arabiaalliance.org/vst_home.html The hike will start at the Nature center. We'll hike the Forest Trail, Fern Trail, South and Lake Trail during the first half of the hike. In the second half we'll hike the Bradley Mountain Peak Trail and finish at Arabia Mountain Peak. The trails are not very long (3-4 miles) and we will keep on schedule to finish before sunset. Along the way we'll stop for photos at several breaks. We'll finish on Arabia Mountain for some great sunset photos. The hike is open to any level of amateur photographer. Bring your point-and-shoot, SLR, or DSLR for some photographic fun! Check out the following link for some photographic inspiration: www.arabiaalliance.org/glry_photo.html Since we'll be stopping for photographs this is a fairly easy hike. We will be up the mountain after sunset so bring a headlamp/flashlight for the hike down. The temps may drop once the sun goes down so bring some cover for cool weather. | |||||||
