Twilight hike at East Palisades with the bonus of a few new trails! We will begin the hike at the Indian Trail parking lot and walk along many trails of the East Palisades Unit making a few brief stops for photo opportunities and to hydrate. We will walk on a few new trail routes (at least they are new for me) and get in as many of the other trails as possible in 2 hours. I plan to keep a moderately fast pace on the hike to ensure that we get in over 4 miles and will also throw in a few good hills. Sunset will be at 8:42 PM and if it looks as if it will be clear we can try to find a good vantage point to watch it. The park officially closes 30 minutes after sunset, so we will arrive back at the cars by that time. The hike will be approximately 4 - 4.5 miles and there will be some steep and hilly portions that should get the heart rate up. Many of the trails have protruding rocks and roots, so be sure to wear sturdy footwear with good traction. A small LED flashlight or headlamp will be helpful, although not necessarily required. | |||||||
