Itinerary:
We have tackled Yonah a number of times, but this time, in celebration of the 67th anniversary of MacArthur's promised return to Manilla (and Tony's 200th trip lead for the AOC), we will "return to Yonah from the East Slope of the Mountain. (The public trial traverses the West Slope)

There is no marked trail up this 1.35 mile route, but with our natural instincts (and our GPS's), we will manage our way up the mountain. It is technically bushwhacking, but very easy open terrain without weeds and briars to fight through, etc...just a pleasant walk through the woods.

We will start the hike at 3:30 pm from a private road (yes we have permission) and watch the 6:09 sunset atop the rocky outcropping on the western side. The moon comes up at 6:17 and we will head over to the eastern side of the mtn to try to see it rise...maybe can see it through the trees at the top.  We won't have time to get to the eastern overlook for a clear few though. But should still be fun. Once we're satisfied with the lunar show, we will bushwack our way back down in the same direction we ascended.

As of this posting, the weather is forecast to be partly cloudy, but of course forecast could change by Tuesday. However, we can be assured that once the sun falls, the temperatures will fall rapidly. Therefore, it is important that we all dress in layers including a wind shell.

We expect to be back to our parking area by 7:30 pm and all are invited to dinner at a home where we are parking. So all you will need to bring with you on the hike will be water, light snacks, and head lamps.
