Itinerary:

Is anyone up for an after-lunchtime hike at Island Ford to break up the middle of the week?  Join me if you can for a brisk-paced hike around this beautiful area. We'll begin our hike along the river and complete the newer "lollipop" loop which adds some good elevation changes.

We'll park at the Visitors' Center, way down the road after going through the entrance to the park. . . about 1/2 mile. If it's your first visit to this parking lot, no - - you have not gone too far!   Bathroom facilities are available here, and annual CNRA park passes can be purchased.

If you plan to do much hiking in the area, the $25 annual fee is a bargain.  If you do not have an annual pass, the fee for the day's parking at this location is $3.00. Please have cash handy and allow time to buy your day-pass before the hike.

If you bring your dog, it should be able to keep up with the group and interact well with other dogs and people. The Chattahoochee NRA requires that owners keep their dogs on a leash and clean up after their pets on the trails. Dogs off leash have been known to stir up yellow jackets, resulting in painful stings to both nearby hikers and the dogs themselves.
