Itinerary:

Full moon backpacking on Yonah is a treat in itself.  So it should be fun as long as the weather cooperates (no rain). There are many nice overlooks to hang out and enjoy the view, both above and below.

We will carpool up after work...we'll leave at 4.00 pm.  Its a 75 min minute drive to the trailhead.  We will probably be able to make it to the top for the sunset at 8:03 although it could be tight with heavier packs on.  But it's 2 miles up.  I'm tempted to make this a D3, but that is a pretty good 1500' climb up, so will go with D4.

There usually isn't any water up at the top of Yonah so you have to bring extra.

We can hopefully camp on the summit at 3166' so it will be a good bit cooler up there overnight, esp if there is a nice breeze.  So pleasae bring extra layers

We will start try to heading down Saturday morning by about 9.30am at the latest.  So we should be back in ATL by around 12.30pm at the latest, depending on whether or not anyone wants to stop for breakfast/brunch on the drive back.  This is a somewhat short overnight trip but also a short drive, so should all be well worth it.

Backpacking gear such as tent etc.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $52.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:

Maximum Number of dogs allowed in this hike is Three (3), therefore it would first three who signs up with the dogs. If you want to bring dog then, please take a look at the list before signing in; three people already signed up with the dog then you are out of luck.

The last half mile of the drive to the trailhead is on a gravel/dirt road.
