Itinerary:

This is a celebratory hike because of a very significant achievement:  Susan F. is reaching her 200th AOC event today, which she has accomplished in just her first year with the club.  That's a lot of hiking! We're delighted to have her as our Guest of Honor at Sweethwater Creek - - the location where Susan first learned of the Atlanta Outdoor Club.  It's a special place for her and her choice for this 200th celebration. To add even more cause for jubilation, Lisa S. will be co-leading the hike as she continues her PTL (Potential Trip Leader) training.

After the hike,  those who would like are invited to join us for lunch at The Olive Tree Restaurant near our carpool location.  It's a well-rated Greek/Italian place at 849 Thornton Road, Lithia springs.  For a menu, check http://theolivetreerestaurants.com/menus

We will meet for the hike at the Park n' Ride off of Thornton Road in Lithia Springs to make the cost of the drive more palatable for folks who don't own a State Park pass. (A $5 fee is required at Sweetwater if you don't already have an annual pass.) It's just a short distance (3 miles) from there to the park itself. When we return to our cars, we'll be very close to The Olive Tree for those planning to join us for lunch.

The Park n' Ride is just off I-20 at exit #44.  See directions below.

Because of the carpooling and restaurant plans, I'm making this event a no-dog hike.  (Sorry, my four-footed friends!  I'll make it up to you!)

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $3.60 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:

Remember, if you go directly to the park, bring $5 cash for a parking permit, unless you have an annual state park pass.
