Itinerary:

Join us for a relaxing evening hike at Settles Bridge Park in Suwanee.   This park has apparently been open for four years, but we don’t believe the AOC has ever had a hike there. We are not sure why, but it's definitely worth visiting... nothing extraordinary, but if you enjoy exploring a "new" trail as much as we do, then you should have fun.

The park is about 268 acres and has 3.2 miles of natural surface trails and a 1.8 mile paved trail.  We will mostly stick to the natural trails and will end up on the paved one at the end (hopefully).    We don’t have an exact route picked out, but it’s not complicated and if we get “lost”, it won’t be for long … just would add a little extra adventure to the hike.

Dogs are permitted on this hike, but remember that in accordance with park rules, they must be kept on leash the entire time.  But feel free to get there early (or stay late) and you can take them into the large dog park area where they can play and run free.

Most of the trails are wooded and under tree cover , which should be nice if it’s a hot day (hope not).  There are a couple of short steep hills, but we will be going at a leisurely to moderate pace.   It is a light D2 but if we cover about 4 miles as planned, it should still be a nice little evening workout.  Hope you can join us.

Turn left on Johnson Road and proceed for aobut a mile.  You will see the sign and entrance to the park on your right.

Note:  There is also the Chatt NRA Settles Bridge park farther down the road, so do not get confused and go there instead. If you are driving on a gravel road, then you are not at the right one.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $14.40 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:

Free parking, and there are restrooms at the trailhead.

And if rain is forecast, the hike will possibly be rescheduled for a later date.
