This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

This is a trail run of sorts along the Greenway starting in Roswell. We'll go out about 7 miles or so and then turn around and head back the same way. Those wanting more mileage can go further,  or wanting less mileage may head back sooner. It's out and back so you must be able to return the same distance you go out.  Our pace is planned to be moderate and will plan to stay together unless someone wants to go faster.

WHAT IS A GREENWAY?
A greenway is a linear park. A greenway is about people and the land they love. It is about conservation. It is about recreation and alternative transportation. It is about environmental education. It is about connecting the quality of life Alpharetta now has with the future plan that will help maintain that quality of life. Our greenway is an investment in the future of Alpharetta...an Alpharetta that is green, with open spaces for people as well as natural areas for plants and animals.

The Big Creek Greenway is primarily a 12-foot wide concrete path that meanders through the deciduous woods along Big Creek. The greenway offers an ideal setting for walking, jogging, inline roller blading, and biking. Dirt mountain bike trails are located on the east side of the creek 2/5 mile south of Webb Bridge Road.

HOW LONG IS THE BIG CREEK GREENWAY?
Total length of the Big Creek Greenway, from Windward Parkway to Mansell Road, is approximately 8 miles.

Note: This is not a beginners run and the trip leaders reserve the right to remove anyone from the event they feel will not be able to complete or handle the run.

Required Items to Bring:

There is water and bathroom along the route but may not be where you want them so we suggest bringing your own water or Gatorade. Normally trail running shoes would be recommended but this is more like wooden bridges and concrete pathways,  therefore road running shoes for road surface would be suggested.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
