Itinerary: | |||||||
We will hike nearly all of the trails in Sawnee Mountain Preserve. Total distance should be about 5.5 miles with just over 1000 feet of total ascent. This is a nice park with some scenic views of the distant Blue Ridge mountains to the North. All of the trails are well graded with relatively even terrain, but with a couple of slightly steep sections in there....so you should be in reasonably good shape before attempting this hike. We will take a lunch/snack break midway through at the "Indian Seats" area near the summit. More info: http://www.sawneemountain.org/

Carpool Cost: | Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $17.20 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
