Back by popular demand (Suzanne W.!), we are celebrating Cinco de Mayo with 5 hikes! Join us on one of them, two of them, or even all of them, if you like! Wear a sombrero, and get into the spirit of the day! We'll take a break between hikes 3 and 4 to have a Mexican lunch at Tijuana Joe's on Roswell Road (Sandy Springs). Lunch will take place around 2 pm. Join us! Our fourth hike in celebration of el Cinco de Mayo will be an after-lunch leg-stretcher at a park just minutes from Tijuana Joe's on Roswell Road, where the group will have gathered for lunch. If you would like to join us for lunch before this hike, we'll be meeting there at 2 pm. This is a great hike for folks who are just starting to hike and don't yet feel up to long miles. The one mile trail traverses the top of a hill, so it's not flat - - but we'll take it easy. Please be prompt, as we'll be starting on time - - 4:00 pm! There are bathroom facilities at this location and NO parking fees! It doesn't get any better than that. Morgan Falls Park provides some scenic overlooks of the Bull Sluice Lake, which is a small reservoir of the Chattahoochee River, including a chance to see Gold Branch from the Morgan Falls Dam side of the lake. After hiking the one-mile trail, we'll walk down the road to the dam to get a close-up look at the structure that governs the depth of the lake. There are a couple of dog parks here that provide a safe playground area for our four-footed friends.
