Everybody that has ever tasted the Lenfoot Hike Inn's hot chocolate, lemonade, or coffee agrees: This is heaven!

Meet-up time is 10:00 a.m. in the upper parking lot right by the trail head. From this trailhead, we will hike the AT Approach Trail northward. This is a loop hike with a lot of ups and downs, but we will tackle it at a moderate pace. We will stop and regroup on top of Frosty Mountain and at the turn from the AT approach trail to the Hike Inn Trail.

We will have our lunch break at the Len Foote Hike Inn. Yeah!!! The Inn does not serve lunch to dayhikers but will sometimes have dessert or fruit for some tips. However, it is best to bring your own lunch.

From the Inn we will continue southward via the Len Foote Trail which leads us back to the parking lot.

Please check with the trip leaders before you leave so that everyone is accounted for. We don't want to leave anybody behind.

Also note that there is a $5 GA DNR parking fee per vehicle at Amicalola Falls State Park - unless you display an annual pass.

**** This hike is for those who already have demonstrated D4 hiking experience. The trip leaders will contact you if they feel that this hike may be to difficult for you or if you are new to the club.****

How to Get There:

Event Directions:

DIRECTIONS from GA-400/ I-285 INTERCHANGE in N ATLANTA (Sandy Springs) to AMICALOLA FALLS STATE PARK (about 60 miles or 90 minutes):

1. From the GA-400/ I-285 interchange go North on GA-400/US-19 N about 42 miles to the traffic light at GA-136 (a.k.a. Harmony Church Rd).
2. Turn Left off GA-400 onto GA-136 and follow it westward about 17.3 miles.
3. Bear Right onto GA-183 (a.k.a. Elliott Pkwy) and go about 1.1 miles.
4. Bear Right onto GA-52 East and go 1.6 miles.
5. Turn Left onto Amicalola Falls State Park Rd, at the park entrance.
6. Continue northward just 0.2 mile to the park. The State Park Visitor Center will be on your right. However, you need to turn left right before the Visitor Center to get to the upper parking lot. At 10:00 AM we’ll gather in the top parking lot and introduce one another.

Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $36.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
