Please join us for an exhilarating hiking adventure at Amicalola Falls that combines a loop hike to the remote Hike Inn with a climb up the stairs adjacent to the falls.

This 12.5-mile hike encompasses approximately 3,250' of elevation gain at a moderate pace (averaging 2.5mph) with limited rest stops. We'll begin at the Visitors Center and hike the Appalachian Approach Trail to the base of the falls and then climb 600+ stairs to the top of the falls; there are several fantastic views of the falls during the climb. At the top of the falls, we'll do a scenic loop hike that stops about midway at the Len Foote Inn (Hike Inn) for a lunch break. We'll return to the Visitors Center on the East Ridge Trail that arcs around the falls.

The event duration encompasses the drive time to and from our carpool meetup location. If you choose to drive direct, please arrive by 8:30am for a 8:45am departure. Our estimated return time is an educated guess, so allow extra time just in case.

The elevation gain, pace, and distance give this hike a difficulty rating of D5. If you don't have recent D4/D5 experience, this is not a suitable event.

We will meet at the Amicalola Falls Visitors Center. An approximate address is 280 Amicalola Falls State Park Rd, Dawsonville, Georgia 30534. See the top of this event description for GPS coordinates and a map link.

Directions To Trailhead from Mansell Road Park and Ride

> Exit right from the parking lot onto Mansell Road, quickly getting into one of the two left-hand turn lanes.

> Turn left at the first light onto the ramp to GA 400 / US 19.

> Continue on GA 400 / US 19 for about 23 miles to the intersection with GA 369.

> Turn left onto GA 369 (heading west) and continue for about 1 mile to the intersection with GA 9.

> Turn right onto GA 9 (heading north) and continue for about 17.5 miles as you pass through Dawsonville and as the road changes names to Spur 136 then GA 136 until you reach the intersection with State Route 342.

> Turn right onto State Route 342 (still heading north) and continue for about 3.5 miles until the intersection with GA 52.

> Turn left onto GA 52 (heading west) and continue for a little under 4 miles until you see the park entrance on the right.

Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $40.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

There is a $5 entrance fee per vehicle at Amicalola Falls State Park.
