:: NOT YOUR TYPICAL WEEKDAY HIKE :: Please, read FULL write up: Join me as we light up the trails with a quick stepping fitness hike that will get that heart rate & step count up right out of the gates...This week day D4 training hike will see some nice elevation, as I take you along what I affectionately dub my "training grounds!" We might hit a couple of the same paths twice but never in the same direction. This is NOT a "check out the scenery" event! Conditions have been a little sloppy, expect some loose terrain & acorns everywhere - trekking poles are always advised. This is a FAST training/fitness hike along various trails at Vickery Creek (in a top secret special direction) and we might be re-grouping at the top of the steepest climb (to be announced before ascending) if needed, but there are no formal stops planned. The average will be in the sub 17 minute miles for sure, but don't be surprised to see some 15 minute + miles. So, if you haven't been on any FAST AOC D4 hikes recently you're probably not going to like this hike - saying it's fast is an undestatement. If I see you falling back pretty far within the first mile (or two) I may ask you to try again after a few months...Safety first, respect to the others second. Rain or Shine...althought I prefer the latter. The sun will be set before we wrap this event up so it is mandatory that you bring a headlamp or some light source. Conveniently located in historic Roswell, GA, the historic "Vickery Creek" unit of the Chattahoochee River Nat'l Recreation Area (CRNRA) boasts an amazing variety of shady creekside and ridgetop trails and is one our Club's favorite places for hiking (mine for sure). | |||||||||
