Itinerary:

Join us for a pleasant evening walk at Shakerag Park, in Johns Creek. This is a shorter D1 hike that is good for beginners, but still provides a nice workout.  The total distance is about 2.5 mi, with about 100' of total ascent. 

It is surprising that apparently there has not been an AOC event at this park..  The trails have a good bit of variety...we start out in a wooded area, and then hike beside a lake, before navigating some adventurous boardwalks.   Then we will walk by a working farm, and perhaps see the resident donkey grazing there.  We will travel down a flood plain, along the border of a swamp, before a short climb and looping up to some recreational fields.  From there, it is a short walk on pavement, back to the cars.

The parking at Shakerag sometimes fills up, so we will meet in the overflow parking lot, which is right next door at Rivertrail Middle School.  You drive past the entrance of Shakerag to get to the school.  Pull in to the left, we will meet by the tennis courts.
