Enjoy grand winter views as we hike the rugged Arkaquah Trail to Brasstown Bald, the highest peak in Georgia. Beautiful 360 degree scenery will greet us at the summit where we will relax for lunch.

We start at the Arkaquah Trailhead at Track Rock Gap, at about 2,100 feet elevation, climb almost 2000 feet in the first 1.5 miles, then trek to the Brasstown Bald parking lot. From there, just a half mile climb to the summit at 4784 feet, where there is an expansive observation deck and a small museum. We return on the same route.

Trailhead Parking is very limited - most of us will have to carpool.

Please Note: This is for experienced hikers only. The initial climb is very tough - about 2000 feet in under 2 miles. There is one difficult uphill scramble requiring hand and arm strength and some agility. If you are not experienced with this type of climb and not a proficient scrambler... this is not for you. Our pace will average about 2.5 mph, which is moderate.

Use google map directions to the Arkaquah Trailhead. The parking area is the same as for the Track Rock Gap Archeological Area, and there should be a sign. The parking area is very small and not well marked - go slow

The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
