Itinerary:

This is a one night backpacking trip to Panthertown Valley. The plan is to leave Atlanta on Saturday morning at 7AM. Mike P may head over there Friday evening to secure a camp site.  If you are inteterested in going Friday contact Mike P.  The hike from the trail head to the campsite is approximately 1.5 to 2 miles downhill. We will set up our camp near the Tuckasegee River just past the Sandbar Pool.

On Saturday, after settling into camp,  we will do a day hike that is approximately 8 miles with 1000’ in elevation gain. You can also choose to sleep in and relax in camp. We will return to our camp for dinner and a nice campfire.

On Sunday we can have a leisurely breakfast and pack up for the trek out.

We can stop at Cornucopia in Cashiers on the way home for lunch.

Be advised that this is winter backpacking, so please be sure you have appropriate gear.  We have seen the night time temps in the teens at this time of year.

Number of dogs limited to 2, and there will already be one dog, Cedar, attending the event. See Additional Notes regarding dogs.
