Itinerary:

Are you ready to climb trees the safe way? Growing up I spent a good amount of time in the tallest trees my friends and I could find in northern Illinois.

The best trees were the white oaks, full of large sturdy branches, and during the fall, good eating acorns. We found it not only exciting, but as a great escape. We'd spend hours up there day dreaming, and sometimes secretly watching the bigger boys walk below, without a clue we were up there.

My friends and I got very good at climbing trees, but it was a skill we grew into gradually. Of course there were always trees we couldn't climb, but wish we could. So we'd take out our hammer, nails and 2x4's, and make our way up, if we were in the forest where the "big" people couldn't yell at us. That took a lot of time as you can imagine.

Later, long after those days, when I first learned of tree climbing with ropes, I thought it's about time to do it the safe way, and with no damage to the trees!

This is the introductory course..more info on the website:  www.funintrees.com
