Sunday afternoon turned out to be a fine time for being outdoors, with nary a drop of rain and in the "balmy" mid-50s. The scenery and side trails were so nice that we ended up hiking about 6 miles and exploring virtually all of the public parklands in the "Mason Mill - Medlock corridor."
Along the way we enjoyed the amazing variety of fascinating flora, both native and non-native - also witnessed exciting "avian action": a big red-tailed hawk being mobbed by crows, a great blue heron taking flight from the lake, and songbirds flitting through the foliage.
This has become one of my favorite "go-to" outdoor venues here in my own NE Atlanta community and this hike certainly did not disappoint.
