Despite traffic issues and threatening skies, the seven of us enjoyed a beautiful hike at Island Ford. The clouds provided some respite from the sun and, along with the cool breeze off the river, kept temperatures much more pleasant than expected.  Though we didn't hit our goal of 5.5 miles, we did cover close to 5 in less than two hours, covering a large portion of the park and spotting some deer, geese, fly fishermen and a box turtle along the way. It only briefly and lightly sprinkled some rain on us at one point for a few minutes, and we were well protected from most of it by the trees. What did make it through felt refreshing!
