We had gorgeous weather for our trip down the Chestatee River on Sunday, which was the Summer Solstice. Temperatures weren't too hot, and most of us took advantage of the stop at Big Bend Beach to go for a swim and float down the "chute" on the opposite side. 

Since we went earlier in the day, it wasn't too crowded on the river, despite being Father's Day. Along the way we saw blooming rhododendron, turtles and a water snake, as well as some lovely birds. The water level was a little low, but we were able to navigate the whole way without any issues.

All of the beginner paddlers did an awesome job and had fun. Afterwards about fifteen of us went to Pueblo's Mexican restaurant in Dahlonega for lunch. Thanks to everyone who came out and enjoyed the day!
