Write Up:A very interesting hike at Cochran Shoals this evening. Before the hike even started, a blue swallowtail butterfly insisted on posing in its glory for an array of pictures. (I suspect this butterfly followed DaveO from Pine Log Creek yesterday. They fluttered around him constantly!) This butterfly was entranced with our group, as you can see from all of the pictures. We also came close to a snake attack from a large rat snake crossing our trail. Smitha went quickly from leading the group to assuming a rear position in virtually one leap. ;-) The temperature dropped nicely during our hike, making it a most pleasant time to be on the trails. We also hiked the newly created biking trail and the now "all-pedestrian" trail by the creek. ~ Joyce
