What a gorgeous day! Half of the group headed up to NC on Saturday afternoon and enjoyed a nice evening up there, while the other half met bright an early at 6:00 am on Sunday. We met at the NOC and took a shuttle back to Wayah Bald where we continued our hike on the AT. We were greeted by a chilly 55F. But that did not deter us. Soon we were off to our next section of the NC AT: a gruesome 18 miler from Wayah Bald to the NOC! It did not take us long to warm up, and we were rewarded with a gorgeous day for hiking, breathtaking scenery, rhododendrons in bloom, and good company. We finished by 7pm and spent another hour having a well deserved dinner by the river. Even though it was a very long day, it was well worth it.
