The 50% chance of thunderstorms worked in our favor this morning, giving us beautiful hiking weather for our trek through Big Trees Forest Preserve.  We criss-crossed paths passing over bridges and creeks, took some photos, and enjoyed casual conversation among our group of 14.  Most of the members were new to the park, which is always gratifying to a trip leader who loves to introduce new hiking venues to folks.  

We welcomed Melissa H. - - a brand new AOC member!  

Caution:  if you hike in this area, be sure to spray on mosquito repellant;  the rains have made for ideal hatching conditions for those pesky insects.  ~  Joyce
