Sat, Jul 25 2015 - Kayak the Etowah - Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area (View Original Event Details)
|
Our group of 24 had a great time paddling down the Dawson Forest section of the Etowah River on Saturday. The weather was gorgeous and the water was clear and beautiful. This particular section has lots of shady spots, as well as interesting bridge and building remains to spot along the way, not to mention pretty natural scenery.
A little more than halfway down we stopped at Bear Foot Falls to take a break. Thanks to everyone for their patience and help in getting everyone's kayaks out of the water and back in afterwards! Most of the group enjoyed visiting the falls, and a few hiked up to the top before we continued down the river.
After navigating a few fun, small rapids, we finished our paddle and nine of us grabbed lunch in Dawsonville at a Mexican restaurant. Thanks to everyone who came out and made this such a fun event. We hope to see you again soon!
Also, a big thanks to Allison and Thomas for the photos!
