Thu, Aug 20 2015 - Thursday Morning Hike at Island Ford (View Original Event Details)
|
Although a very humid morning, we were able to complete just over six miles of hiking. Rain from the previous evening created slippery conditions and we crossed over many downed trees. A sawyer is needed for one tree in particular, which is covered with poison ivy and located at the top end of the lollipop trail. This felled tree caused us to back track so we were not able to traverse the "loop" of the lollipop, but many bare legs avoided poison ivy exposure. Thank you Joyce for guiding us safely through the woods and for organizing the very enjoyable lunch that followed.
