Write Up:We had a wonderful time exploring the trails in the Mason Mill and Medlock areas. The weather cooperated with us, giving us cloudy skies but cool weather with no rain! We had a handful of new hikers joining us on this wonderful Saturday, and after some fun introductions, we got started!
We started off our hike on the South Peachtree Creek Trail, occasionally stopping so Charlie could point out some of the interesting history of the area or some of the plants along the way. Once we made it to the end of the 1.12 mile trail, we looped around and started taking some of the side trails as we meandered our way back to Mason Mill.
Along the way, we learned about the Decatur Waterworks, the Devil's Walking Stick and Hearts-a-Bustin plants, other native and exotic plant species, and a little box turtle who happened to be on our path. Charlie had us doing a little bit of bushwacking, too, to make sure we all got a real hiking experience! All in all a great time was had, and it was a wonderful start to our Saturday!
