Mon, Sep 14 2015 - Red Top Mtn: Homestead, Sweet Gum and White Tail Trails (View Original Event Details)
|
The first cold mornings at the end of summer are such a treat. Our group of eight early risers met for nine miles at Red Top Mtn. The air was fresh and cool. We hiked the trails, walked along the lake, talked with the park volunteer coordinators and hiked some more. The views along Lake Allatoona were some of the most pristine I've ever seen - clear blue sky and cool crisp air.
It was a perfect day to welcome a new AOC hiker. Just back home from five years in Brazil, Jennifer is an absolute delight. She is backpacking portions of the AT next month so there is a good chance you will meet her, if you like to hike.
Swheat Market was a great choice for lunch. Gosh, we have so much fun. I can't imagine a better way to spend the early part of a day. Thank you all for coming out. I hope to do it again soon.
