Thu, Nov 19 2015 - ATL Nightime Skyline from Stone Mountain (View Original Event Details)
|
It gets dark early this time of year, but that just adds a new dimension to hikes on Stone Mountain. Seven of us took the special trail to the top of Stone Mountain, lit only by our headlamps. We were treated to a spectacular view of the greater Atlanta area. With a mostly clear sky, we literally had stars above and stars below. We then circled the summit. Lit by the giant cone of lights on top of the mountain, it was like walking in a moon scape. Returning to the parking lot via the main trail, we completed our hike. Like the event write up said:
The daylight hours are getting short, but there's no need to sit on the couch and sulk.
