We dodged the pop-up showers, including a downpour that ended just moments before our hike began. Steam was rising off the hot road leading into Island Ford, creating an eerie introduction to a muggy trek. We explored the lollipop trail and ventured down along Beech Creek, pausing twice to watch some deer leap through the forest.

Afterwards, about half of us, along with AOC trivia stalwarts Rich, Sharon, and Aaron, hit trivia night at North River Tavern. We dominated the competition, walking away with second place overall and $40 bar cash. Guess we'll have to have another trivia hike soon to spend our winnings.
