Write Up:
Well it ended up being a bit rainy through about half this event, but we had a good enthusiastic group and managed to get in a nice 2 1/2 hour vigorous hike. We began by heading up to the northern boundary of the park where we took the obligatory group pic, with the remaining half of Jones Bridge as a backdrop. We then headed south...mostly along the scenic river and then back into the woods. We spotted a couple of herons as well as some deer farther back on the trail (see pics). There were also ducks and squirrels in abundance as usual. After reaching the southern border of the park, we took a lunch break at some picnic tables... although they were a bit too damp to actually sit upon. We made a bit of a loop and headed back north....back up the hilly section in the middle of the park and down to the river which we followed pretty much back to our cars. It turned out being a good little workout and always nice to catch up with friends on the trail and to make new ones as well.
