Write Up:The slight drop in temperature made a nice improvement on our hiking pace today. We hiked six miles in an hour and 59 minutes. Even with the extra distance it felt easier than it has all summer. A few fallen trees were observed in the woods. One large oak in particular landed across the trail. Many more are marked with orange paint for removal. In the meadow, the fruit on the pear trees is ripe and makes a pretty picture with the blue sky background. I look forward to watching those newly planted trees grow big and full. We even spied what we believe is a pecan tree. We'll be keeping an eye on it as it's nuts start to ripen soon in the coming months. ~Trish
