This way of hiking the trail worked well. From the reservoir to the lookout on the Tennessee Rock Trail took exactly two hours, and with that we had most of the uphill behind us. That left just the 30-minute steep uphill from the gravel road to the level, former logging road leading to the smaller lookout as well as the short climb to the lookout itself.
It was good to see that the park had paved what was formerly the gravel parking lot next to the reservoir and installed a pay station.
Fantastic weather, great hikers, perfect day.
