Write Up:A fun hike, great people, and perfect weather. What more could you ask for? Well, how about a spectacular moonrise with the added bonus of a glimpse of the International Space Station? We lucky thirteen wended our way up through the woods, midway to the top of Stone Mountain. There we paused to view the ISS as it zoomed above at 17,500 miles per hour. Then our group split up, with six of us taking the traditional walk-up trail, and seven opting to tackle a steeper route. We all met at the top to sit down, relax, and savor Mother Nature's performance. She did not disappoint. We watched the glowing red lunar sphere emerge above the horizon and bathe the mountain in shining light. We enjoyed the return walk down the granite with our headlamps bobbing along with our lighthearted conversation.
