Sun, Oct 16 2016 - Mason Mill Park Nature Wonderland: An adventurous Sunday afternoon Hike (View Original Event Details)
|
Although there were only three of us on this hike this afternoon, Eme, Gerrilyn and I had a fantastic time together and the blue-sky fall weather could not have been better. The event lived up to its "adventurous" billing as we forded several creeks and explored the PATH Foundation's initial construction phase of several nice new spur trails that will connect Mason Mill Park and Medlock Park with other adjoining greenspaces. Already completed are 3 or 4 massive new "stepping stone" walkways that let hikers safely cross the South Fork of Peachtree Creek and Burnt Fork Creek and easily reach the trails at neighboring Clyde Shepherd Park. There are also several huge wooden footbridges and boardwalks under construction that will cross the creeks and wetland areas. Along the way we enjoyed stopping occasionally to admire the colorful fall foliage, butterflies, birds and wildflowers. -Posted by Charlie Sunday at 5:30 PM
