Well, we had no beginners, but instead a group of die-hards who were willing to brave whatever rain might come for a hike. The morning reminded me of the Mother Goose rhyme that goes, "One misty, moisty morning, when cloudy was the weather . . . ." We knew there would be rain but decided that the trails at Leita were safe to travel even when wet . . . and we did. Fortunately, the rain that came was just misty drizzle, so it did no harm except to put blotches on my camera lens (the waterproof camera!).
Our hike ended after 1 hour and 15 minutes because the radar showed heavier showers on the way. But we were able to cover over 4 miles in that time, which is just what the itinerary called for.
