Sun, Jan 1 2017 - 28th Annual New Years Day Trail-of-the-Hare CHEDDARHEAD Hike & Party (View Original Event Details)
|
Congrats to all the fun-loving AOCers who rang in 2017 in such an unusual and unforgettable way! We're indebted to our "Atlanta Hash House Harriers & Harriettes" friends for doing their usual bangup job hosting this big annual rain-or-shine outdoor event. We began by helping one another follow the "hare's" tricky trail through about 5 miles of varied off-and-on-trail terrain and neighborhoods just north of downtown Decatur - more than 100 of us! We then enjoyed the festive "down-down" New Years Day party and feast in the back yard of one of the most active of our hasher hosts, "Little Willie." The copious food & refreshments were delicious, the blazing campfire toasty-warm, and we felt lucky that despite a wet forecast we ended up with just a smidgen of light misty rain. A special pat on the back to new AOCer Dave Filer for completing this wacko hash bash as his first event as a member of our fine Club.
On-On, and wishing you all a Terrific 20-Seventeen!

p.s. To atone for the old off-color "Nantucket" limerick that I led at my mandatory down-down yesterday I offer the following "G-rated" pre-Auld-Lang-Syne ditty that I penned this morning + my "Cheddarhead" 2nd chorus for the old song from a couple of years ago. Promise to lead this next year in lieu of a limerick! -Charlie
A CLEAN! NEW YEAR'S DAY DITTY
as "1st VERSE" for Auld Lang Syne
- by Dirty Limerick, Key of C
I'm wishing you a Happy New Year's Day
With a hearty "Auld Lang Syne,"
Let's raise a glass to the good times past
And a future oh so fine,
And as we celebrate the brand new year
We'll sing a song of cheer
For the boundless blessings of the earth
And loved ones far and near!
(+AULD LANG SYNE traditional lyrics):
Should old acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot
And days of Auld Lang Syne?
For Auld Lang Syne, my dear,
For Auld Lang Syne,
We'll drink a cup of kindness yet
For Auld Lang Syne!
(+ extra AH4 chorus - lyrics by "DL"):
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
As we hash the Cheddarhead?
We ask, "Was ever there a bash
With hashers better fed?"
Midst all ye Green Bay fans who boast
Let's sing out loud and clear,
And drink a sudsy down-down toast
To another grand New Year!
