Sun, Feb 19 2017 - Volunteer Events Roundtable Discussion on front end of today’s AOC Social (View Original Event Details)
|
Thanks to Trena & Ed, Gayle, Eric and Jasmine - aka "Jazz" - for participating in our lively pre-Social roundtable this afternoon at the Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant in Buckhead. We began with a Q&A session about our big upcoming St. Pat's volunteer weekend at Lula Lake & Falls on Lookout Mtn near Cloudland Canyon. We'll have exclusive use of their gorgeous mountaintop pioneer campsite and trails network while "giving back" with some very worthwhile trailwork. Other upcoming AOC volunteer opportunities include the following:
1. Gayle's scheduled March work days (+ hikes) at the Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell,
2. The Howards' newly announced Cumberland Island service trip over the Mar 31-Apr 2 weekend to do trail work with the GA Conservancy and Nat'l Park Service.
3. The Chellinos' 2nd annual recruitment of volunteers for Bicycle Ride support on Apr 30th, the "Cruel Jewel Marathon" in Blue Ridge in May, and the "Roswell Mayor's event" also in May.
4. Charlie's commitment to support the Chattahoochee River Nat'l Rec. Area with volunteers on various monthly work days that are being planned and supervised by Dave Thomas and Joe Baiyor of the CRNRA.
Also we want to continue our support for major annual events including "Sweep the Hooch" in April, Dahlonega TrailFest in Sep, and Rivers Alive in Sep-Oct.
Thanks to Tory Vornholt for mentioning during the Social that the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper and Sandy Springs Watershed Alliance are hosting a Feb 25th water quality forum & lunch (10A-1P) at the CRNRA Island Ford HQ. I plan to participate and discuss possible opportunities for AOC volunteerism.
