The threat of thunderstorms and tornados were in the forecast, but Trena, who runs 100 miles over mountains in yucky weather, was undaunted, especially since the really bad stuff wasn't expected for at least another hour or so after our hike was to begin. So the event stayed active, and 13 avid members joined us to hike!

We had a few minutes of light showers as we began the hike, but otherwise no rain, though we cut the hike short to assure that members could get home before the thunderstorms hit. We started with an adventure - - a trail from the parking lot that none of us had been on except for our trusty adventure guide, Doug. How exciting to add yet another "off the map" trail to the endless possibilities that East Palisades has to offer!

Our friend, the Great Blue heron, made an appearance on the river - - always a thrilling sight no matter how many times we see that beautiful bird. ~ Joyce
