Write Up:Some sections of the trails were extremely wet and muddy, guaranteeing that we would have dirty boots to remove before driving home. Aside from that, the hike was most enjoyable, albeit a little fast for the last 8 miles.
It was chanterelle heaven all along the Yellow Trail today, with numerous patches of large orange heads popping out all along the sides of the trail. A mushroom connoisseur would have a heyday picking his/her fill of the prized fungi; there were hundreds of them!
We welcomed Cindy to the AOC today - - on her first hike! How appropriate, since Tropical Depression Cindy was heading across the Northeast as we enjoyed our beautiful weather. And Eva hiked the entire 12 miles in water sandals because she forgot to pack her boots. What a trooper! ~ Joyce
